hamilton's american dream

leftists wonder why there was lack of outrage with the fraudulent florida recount in the 2000 presidental election that elected bush jr. the word "care" is not a binary variable. people did care, just not as much according to the high standards of leftist intellectuals. people with good common sense or good EQ accepts that in a close basketball game it's ok for the game to be determined by a bad referee call because it's part of the game. the goal of the game is to dominate so that referee mistakes would not be a factor. the reason why people did not care as much is illustrated in this play:

hamilton's american dream
by ian "shakespeare" crystal

act 1: a dude named hamilton wakes up, yawns, and talks to himself:

"dude !!! i just realized we americans never have to worry about an invading army raping our wives and daughters. that's unbelievable !!! with the history lessons i learned back in school and the chaos in other countries i see on tv, it's not normal. roman emperors didn't even have this luxury. they were always at risk of being assassinated. my teacher said the red scare was just a pretext to pursue our imperialistic interests. but i think she contradicted herself when she said the cuban missile crisis was the most dangerous time in human history. but who am i to argue? i'm just a common sense low intellect. anyway, the cold war is over and i'm so lucky to be an american. a government's primary job is to protect the country from foreign invaders and our government is already doing a phenomenal job no matter who gets elected.".

act 2: at their apartment, hamilton is eating breakfast with his roommates. using the "i don't believe in tips" style of talking in the movie reservoir dogs (Reservoir Dogs - Tipping Scene), he says:

"dude !!! i just realized it's too good to be true that i only have to work 4 hours a day in mcdonalds and earn $32 a day. a meal of quaker oats and 2 hard boiled eggs only cost 50 cents. quaker oats is a super food for crying out loud. a potato only cost 70 cents. a glass of milk only 25 cents. a can of beans only $1. a can of corn only $1. roasted chicken drumsticks only a dollar each. not to mention spinach, carrots, broccoli, kale, ranch dressing, apple, banana, orange, sardines, tuna, rice, bread - all so cheap. i can eat healthy like a king for only $7 a day. plus mcdonalds is always hiring".

"freakin' history of mankind is just non stop famine, wars, starvation. even up to now in places like syria and africa. finding our next meal shouldn't be this easy".

"although i wish i was a billionaire like bill gates so i can afford grapes, chocolates, roasted almonds, doritos,  icecream ..... yum yum !!! what ??? i can easily afford them even if i only work in mcdonalds 4 hours a day? oh my gosh it's like i'm living in paradise."

act 3: hamilton rushes inside the house and shouts to his 4 roommates:

"dude !!! i was biking and passed by this very beautiful park just nearby. it even has a cemented basketball court. cemented !!! you won't be covered in dirt after playing hoops. it's probably exclusive. only for wealthy country club members. what ??? that park is free for everyone? and the basketball court is lighted so we can play at night? that's just insane. who am i? donald trump's son? first i get to live in a city with a sewage system and an apartment that has indoor plumbing and the streets have no stinky open canals. that's not normal. this is like beverly hills. and i only have to pay $200 a month or $7 a day on rent because i have 4 super fun roommates. i live in superior comfort compared to the kings and queens for the most part of history because they had to suffer cold and heat while we have heating and air conditioning. the moat around their castles was basically a septic tank. gross !!!".

act 4: hamilton talking to his truck driver neighbor.

"dude !!! your job is so awesome. you get to see the wonders of america from magnificent snow capped sierra madre mountains, scenic pacific coast highway, joshua tree national park, and you get paid for it. i can drive a truck but there's probably hardly any openings. what? there's a big shortage of truck drivers? what ??? it starts at $15/hr and can go up to $25/hr with experience? and i get health insurance? what am i gonna do with all that money? i mean a 2005 toyota corolla costs only $5 thousand and it runs forever".

act 5: years later hamilton is married and has a 5 year old son. he is having breakfast with his wife.

"just realized hon, our boy is gonna be going to school next year. we need to cut down on expenses because school tuition must be very expensive. what ??? elementary and high school is free? are you serious? that's just crazy !!! "

act 6: fast forward 15 years. hamilton stops by starbucks in the middle of his truck route and is talking to the barista:

"half-caf non-fat venti sugar-free vanilla soy latte please. so how are you bro? you've been working here a long time you must love your job. you hate it? you graduated from the university and is burdened by student loans? why are you working in starbucks when you have a college degree?

"hmmm. but even if college tuition was free, you would still be working in starbucks right? and you would still hate your job right? it's not like high paying jobs disqualify people with big student loans. maybe free college tuition is a bad thing because more people will go to college even if they don't need it. instead of wasting your money you  would just waste other people's money and even cause taxes to increase. people make better decisions if there is risk involved.".

"listen, my son is earning $45k a year working for this tech company and he didn't even go to college. while in high school my son joined his company's student training program where twice a week he would go after school and train for 2 hours. they even got paid for the training so i did not have to give him allowance. right after graduation the company hired him full time".

act 7: hamilton talking to his now 20 year old son

"son, why are you always sad? you don't go fishing with me anymore. what's that you're saying? inequality? what are you talking about? your community college professor told you the government should re-distribute bill gates wealth? in my opinion, we are already so blessed with abundance in this country. besides bill gates still jogs in the morning and stops by mcdonalds. we can also do that. there's not much difference with bill gates when we drive our cars and sleep in our air conditioned and comfortable beds. it's called diminishing returns. a rich man's food won't be 10 times tastier and healthier just because he is 10 times richer. maybe they have more freedom, but if income is redistributed, it's not like we can also quit work and just play golf. besides i love my job. and if i really want freedom i can just save money and in 10 years buy a couple of condos in the philippines, have it rented out for income while me and your mom live in a cheap but air conditioned apartment near the beach.".

"calm down son. calm down. jeez !!! i understand your friends are barely getting by but maybe that's because they max out their credit cards on designer or brand name clothes"

"no son !!! buying your mom walmart clothes is not abuse and disrespect. your mom is my queen and my world".

"what son? your professor told you there was fraud in the recent elections? that's concerning. i wanna learn more. your professor has youtube videos? cool. i wanna watch them."

act 8: hamilton watching youtube (as if there was already youtube during the 2000 presidential elections).

"holy cow !!! this professor wants to take away my house and my trucks with this libertarian socialism thingy. that's scary !!! maybe it's a good thing we don't have true democracy in this country. anyway anyone is free to join coops if they really want workplace democracy. i believe in climate change but now maybe it's a hoax because it's advocates are kinda wacky. he never even encourages his audience to buy electric cars or get a solar roof which are already very affordable thanks to unaccountable corporate tyrannies that care about the externalities. seems to me the professor is a climate change realistic solutions denier because he never mentions thorium or greening of the dessert or the creative solutions you see in ted talk.

"the professor is also advocating for the dismantling of corporations. he does not make it clear that it should be through non violence or voluntarily as a result of enlightenment. i feel it's scary and irresponsible. ".

"true democracy is too unstable. it can easily be hijacked by evil people like stalin who caused millions of deaths and suffering. it can also endanger the minority. the majority in germany decimated the jewish minority. at least if they had corporatism the jews would have had senators to protect them. i have dark skin so i feel safer under the power of a symbiotic corporate system. at least private power needs me to be prosperous to buy their products."

"maybe it's a blessing in disguise the elections are a fraud. big welfare government sounds good because it helps the poor. but it can also cause more suffering just like in greece where the social democrats got the greeks addicted to financial capital because it kept getting them elected instead of feeding the country with the much healthier industrial capital. a nanny state also causes the people to be dependent and lazy. it sounds ridiculous for the professor to be accusing corporations of receiving government subsidies or industrial capital because corporations provide jobs and defense corporations protect our country.

"i don't get it. but who am i to argue with super intellectuals? i'm just a low intellect.".

act 9: hamilton actor sees vice president mike pence in the audience and says:

“We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.”
