homelessness

my scholar entered a speech contest and the topic given to her was homelessness. so i spent a few minutes to whip up something for her. i hope it's not too much. trump supporters will really hate me after they read this:

there are many kinds of homelessness. some homeless people have good mental health but just fell on bad times. they usually find a way to recover. the homelessness i want to talk about today is one that is caused by a mental illness. in the history of mankind, nobody has ever been cured of a mental illness. that's a fact !!! it's not an economic problem or a social problem. it's not a choice. it could happen to anyone. it could happen to you or your love one. the biggest cause of homelessness is substance abuse - drugs or alcohol.

society believes drug use is a choice. I HUMBLY BEG TO DIFFER. emotional disease and suffering is something that a person is born with. just like a man being attracted to another man. it's something that is out of anyone's control. robin williams was a very talented, rich and well loved actor yet he suffered severe depression so he resorted to drug use. robin williams did not become homeless but what happened to him was worse - he committed suicide. i hate to be political and sound cruel but maybe duterte is just assisting drug abusers end their suffering.

maybe homeless people are the lucky ones among those that are born with severe depression. maybe shabu has fried that area of their brain that allows them to feel pain so now they have less pain and suffering. i think i would rather be a brain dead homeless person than a rich and famous person but constantly feeling as if my daughter just died.

imagine the feeling of a love one dying - your mother or daughter. you suffer the pain regularly maybe once a month. except no one died. in fact there is absolutely no reason for you to feel sad but nevertheless you suffer excruciating emotional pain. you would rather be dead or be high on drugs. this is the reason why we should always feel compassion for the homeless and try to help them. but never give money to a homeless person because they will just use it to buy drugs.

i was thinking of an ATM card system for the homeless which can only be used to purchase food. but on a second thought the criminals or syndicates will always find a way to take advantage or abuse the system. maybe they will buy a burger and re-sell it for half the price. to me the best solution is already being done. in more developed countries they have shelters and soup kitchens for the homeless. the philippine government can't afford shelters and soup kitchens but we can have something better - the bayanihan spirit. a unique trait of filipinos is that we are usually kind hearted and caring.

there's even a famous homeless person back in the 1970's who continuously walked from car-car to guadalupe. people offered him food along the way. maybe that homeless man was god or jesus giving people the opportunity to be true christians. being a true christian is not about going to church or praying the rosary. it's about helping people who can't help themselves. (tears)

but we should also be practical. we should not allow homeless people to defacate in the streets and ruin businesses like what the ideologue leftist democrat morons are doing to seattle and san francisco. it's not rocket science to help the homeless but at the same time prevent them from ruining a beautiful city. unfortunately the democrats in america are a bunch of kind hearted super caring idiots.
