isn't it weird this is the first time in my life i've seen an RV or motor home in the philippines? this is in mactan golf course. i've always wondered why i've never seen one when there are so many rich filipinos who can afford this cool luxury. i even googled it but can't find an explanation. i thought there is a law that prohibits it. if i was very rich and i need to go on very long road trips, i would just let my driver drive at a safe and relaxing 50kph and then i can just eat, sleep, watch tv and work on my laptop as if i was at home. although because of the hot climate you can't comfortably sleep in it on long vacations or camping trips. even if it's diesel, keeping it running for 24 hours for the aircon would ruin the engine. even if you have a generator the carbon monoxide can seep inside because the air inside comes from outside. maybe you can just install a carbon monoxide detector or get a very long exhaust extension to keep the exhaust far enough away from you. or maybe just position the vehicle so the exhaust is facing downwind. but if the wind changes direction, you won't wake up. although there are many high altitude vacation places in the philippines with cool climates so you don't need aircon like bagiou. heck, my family owns some properties in busay and sirao just 15 minutes from the city where the climate is cool and it can get quite cold at night. there are even beaches in cebu with cool climate. i remember i went with my babygirl to samboan for fiesta and slept in one of her relative's nipa hut and i was so surprised it got really cold at night. maybe it's because there were no mountains to block the strong winds coming from the ocean because it's the tip of cebu island. that means oslob, santander, daan bantayan and bantayan island would probably be cold at night too. although it's possible most of the time there is no wind and it's hot and it just happened to be a rare windy night when i was in samboan. because if it's windy most of the time then you would see lots of sailboats but i never see sailboats around cebu. SV delos had to motor the entire time they were in the philippines. or one thing you can do is buy a small beach property like the one in bohol my hs classmate jay montecillo told me about. instead of building a beach house which can be stressful, take a lot of your time and energy travelling back and forth to inspect during construction, then good luck finding a caretaker you can trust, then after a while you only go there once a year so the entire year you are just spending a lot of money for the security and maintenance. so just buy the beach property for investment but do not build a beach house. then just install an electrical outlet box on the property housed in a secure steel cage. then buy an RV or motor home and just mcgyver it to install a small wall air conditioner so you can go to your beach property and live there comfortably as long as you want without worrying about engine wear and carbon monoxide poisoning. you might think an RV depreciates but a beach house appreciates. not exactly because your beach property also appreciates and you now have the flexibility to use the RV for many occasions so you get more bang from your buck. example is fiesta in your home province. you can park your RV in front of your ancestral home or relative's house and just connect a very long extension chord to your aircon and give your relative P200 per night for the electricity.
